Matthew 13:31
The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest
of all your seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air
come and perch on its branches.
The idea is to have something that encourages our brothers and sisters to work hard. And for them to
realize that they have hope because they are a part of God's plan. The Kibera Mustard Beads Project was created on
July 23, 2007 with the hard work of 35 disciples working together to make necklaces, anklets, bracelets, and earrings to help build
the funds necessary for a women's support group that will help utilize their skills and offer encouragement.
Mission Statement
It's truly working together in making things happen for our brothers and sisters in Christ that live
in Kibera. Kibera is a slum located in Nairobi which is the capital city of Kenya many families come in search of
opportunities. In turn, they end up living in Kibera because of low cost housing. The need for a financial
opportunity is beyond challenge because there are no jobs available. At the same time, the government is unable to take care
of them due to lack of effective governance .Moreover, leaving them with no money to support their families or educate their
children. The mothers are in limbo trying to manage a household and work at the same time. In fact, many very young children
are left at the door step to fend for themselves while their parents are working to support their families on very little
money. It's a challenge to see our brothers and sisters struggle to feed, clothe, and educate their children.
However, knowing that there is hope and that together as a family of Christ all is possible.
